Garrett Alton, ChFC®, CLU®, CEPA®

Garrett Alton serves as Chief Growth Officer at Certuity, where he is responsible for driving the firm’s growth across advisor recruiting, client acquisition, strategic partnerships, and mergers and acquisitions. He brings a comprehensive perspective to expanding Certuity’s reach and capabilities, while continuing to cultivate high- and ultra-high-net-worth relationships that reflect his deep roots in private wealth management.

Mr. Alton brings more than 30 years of experience in private wealth management and family office advisory services. He is widely recognized for his ability to align investment and tax mitigation strategies on behalf of entrepreneurs and multi-generational families of wealth.

Earlier in his career, Mr. Alton spent more than a decade at BNY Wealth in multiple Managing Director roles while leading teams responsible for over $20 billion in client assets. He co-founded the firm’s National M&A and Private Business Advisory Practice and served on the Operating and Solutions Strategy Committee for more than 10 years.

Mr. Alton went on to hold senior leadership positions at Wilmington Trust, including Executive Vice President & Head of National Sales and Chair & President of the Southeast Region, where he transformed the firm’s wealth business and led teams that served complex ultra-high-net-worth families.

Most recently, Mr. Alton served as a Partner and Managing Director at Pennington Partners & Co., where he led the firm’s multi-family office growth strategy.

Mr. Alton holds the Certified Exit Planning Advisor (CEPA®), Chartered Financial Consultant (ChFC®), and Chartered Life Underwriter (CLU®) designations. He earned a Bachelor of Business Administration in Business Management from Augusta University. He has also completed executive education programs at the MIT Sloan School of Management, where he earned certificates in Generative AI and Algorithmic Business Thinking, enhancing his expertise at the intersection of technology, strategy, and private wealth.
